Does my toaster have Anti-Jam protection?

All toasters manufactured after November 2001 are equipped with the UL required Anti-Jam. What this means is that if a toasting product gets jammed, the toaster will shut off automatically.

Why is my toast not toasted evenly?

If your toast is not toasting evenly, it is in need of cleaning. To clean your toaster after use, unplug the toaster power cord from the power outlet and wait for the toaster to cool. Wipe the outside of the toaster with a damp cloth and then dry it with another cloth or paper towel. Do not use abrasive cleaners; they will damage the toaster's finish. WARNING: Do not use any pointed or sharp articles for cleaning the inside of the toaster; this may damage the toaster. Lightly tap the side of the toaster to dislodge any crumbs caught in the toast chamber. Remove the crumb tray and empty it. Wipe the tray clean with a damp cloth or place it in the top rack of your dishwasher for cleaning. Be certain to put the crumb tray back into the toaster before using the toaster again. WARNING: Empty the crumb tray frequently. Crumbs will accumulate in the crumb tray and could catch fire if not emptied periodically. Wipe the non-stick surface on the top of the bread slots with a damp cloth and dry it with another cloth or paper towel.

Why is my toaster creating an odor?

You may experience an odor upon first use. To prevent this, without inserting any food into the bread slots, push the bread lever all the way down until it locks. (The cartridge will not lock if the toaster is not plugged into a power source). The first toasting process will preheat the new elements and burn off any dust particles which may have accumulated. It is normal for this burn off to create an odor.

Why won't the latch stay down on my toaster?

If the latch on toaster will not stay down, check the following - Is the toaster plugged into a working outlet? The toaster must be plugged in and have power running to it or the lever will not stay down. If the above has been checked and the latch of the toaster will not stay down, please contact a service centre.

My toaster has a bagel button. What does this button do?

The bagel button is used to toast items such as bagels or English muffins. Bagels and English muffins are thicker and take longer than regular bread to toast. When this feature is selected, the toaster will adjust the toasting time.

My toaster has a frozen button. What does this button do?

My toaster has a light above the lighter/darker knob. Why doesn't the light turn off?

It is normal for the light to remain lit constantly while the toaster is plugged in. Unplug the toaster to turn light off.

My toaster has a warm button. What does this button do?

The warm button is used for warming foods that have already been toasted and may have cooled. When this feature is selected, the toaster will warm your food without further toasting.

What is "Toast Logic®" technology?

Toast Logic is a technology used in Oster® Toasters. It adjusts the toasting time to compensate for the toaster's temperature and voltage input during the toasting cycle.

When I use my Oster® toaster (6320, 6321, & 6322), only the inner elements light up. Why?

These models of Oster® toasters have a special bagel toasting feature. When the bagel button is selected for models 6320, 6321, & 6322, the inside of the bagel will be toasted while the outside of the bagel will be warmed. The toaster will heat the center elements more than the outer elements and that may give the illusion that only the inner elements are working. This allows better toasting for bagels and English muffins.

Which setting should I select on my toaster?

When adjusting the lighter/darker setting, you can adjust how light and how dark the toaster toasts your food. Your selection should vary based on the moisture content, thickness of bread and your darkness preference. The setting will remain unless the toaster is unplugged or the settings are changed.
