All Settings Yield the Same Result
I bought this last week from based on these reviews, followed all the instructions, tried all the setting combinations and it seems to be running on the same super speed regardless. Everything is simply liquefied. If I pulse, it is just chunks and then liquid. I need something that blends fruit and ice together or blends items into a puree - not turns it into juice. I though that was the purpose of being able to choose thickness, etc. This seems to only have one actual setting. I'll have to return it:(

White Smoke!
There are many issues with this product;
. no locking mechanism to hold the jug in place, sits in the base by gravity
. the User Interface of the Controller doesn't match with the performance
-- there isn't any difference between SMOOTHIE and FOOD CHOP modes
-- there isn't any real result to TEXTURE options either (speed variations?)
-- the PULSE feature doesn't have enough torque/power to chop solids
The most serious issue.. 15 seconds after turning on the machine, burning smell from the motor followed by white smoke (burning rubber, oil and plastics). This could lead to an electrical shortage and into a fire hazard. After a few test runs I have stopped using this blender.

Worst blender ever!
This is only a 500w blender. 120v x 4.2A = 504w (see picture). Oster used peak voltage to calculate wattage and then rounded up; 170v x 4.2A = 714W.
120v(RMS) is the usable portion of a 170v(peak) sine wave, peak voltage is consider unusable as it’s produced for only .01666 of a second.
While making frozen smoothies the fruit stays in chunks and doesn’t blend properly, only way to rectify this is to pick up the blender and base together and violently shake them while it’s running.
This can’t make milkshakes, the blade design and container shape result in creating a pocket at the bottom, only way to rectify this is same as above.
This struggles to chop unfrozen food, it also stays in large chunks.
This leaks from the base, gasket is installed properly, and is not dried out, it leaked the first time I used it.
Last time I used this was trying to make hummus, the result was horrible and the blender was so underpowered that it blew the fuse on the circuit board. Oster should be ashamed of themselves for producing this and lying about it’s output.

Disappointed
I received this blender as a Christmas present from my kids. I have always had Oster products & was pretty excited that it came with a glass container. The main use for this item is to make smoothies - unfortunately, this blender doesn't do the job. I have tried every combination of modes, including the one suggested for smoothies but I continue to have chunks of frozen fruit in my smoothie. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am in this product - I plan to call customer care tomorrow to see what options can be offered to me.

Broke after 1 month
The elastic seal does not fit properly so it often leaks while blending.. the bolt that turns the blade over heats and now doesn’t even turn the blade so this blender is useless after having for 1 month.

Lid leaks
I tried making a smoothie and it spit out the top of the unit. I looked at the lid and it has two holes where liquid can spurt out.
